UCI GRAVEL WORLD SERIES

On Saturday, May 31, 2025, you will once again have the opportunity to qualify for the UCI Gravel World Championship at the 3RIDES Gravel Race. The official qualifying race of the UCI Gravel World Series will take place on a completely new race track in the south of Aachen.

The UCI Gravel World Series is an international racing series of the cycling world federation. With over 30 qualifying races worldwide, the top 25% of each age group have the opportunity to qualify for the UCI Gravel World Championships, which will be held in Nice in 2025.

The concept is that professional elite participants and age group participants start in one competition, but are judged separately. Racing bikes, cyclocross bikes, gravel bikes or mountain bikes are permitted for the competition, not e-bikes.

Important: Anyone can take part! Prerequisite is either a racing license or a signed and stamped sports medical certificate ( download here) plus. Identity card for identification.

Start procedure & distances

Start of the race: 15.00 hrs

All start according to the principle of mass start by age group. A start box will be set up for each age category, which will be opened 1 hour before the start. The respective categories follow at one-minute intervals. The pros / elite riders start in the first starting block.

The top 25% of each age group will qualify for the 2025 UCI Gravel World Championships. This 25% will be calculated based on the actual number of participants started, not the pre-registered number of participants. The results are determined on the basis of the time driven.

One or two rounds are run.

60 km:
Official qualifying distance for the UCI Gravel World Championships
(men 60+ and women 50+)

120 km:
Official qualifying distance for the UCI Gravel World Championships
(elite + men 19-59 and women 19-49)

Starting documents distribution

Friday, 30.05.2025, 16:00 - 20:00
Saturday, 31.05.2025, 09:00 - 15:00

The starting documents will be issued upon presentation of an official ID + medical certificate or the racing license. If the participant is prevented, he/she must ensure that the starting documents are collected by a person authorized in writing.

Each participant is obligated to satisfy him/herself of the correctness of the recorded data when collecting the participant documents. Corrections can only be made by the 3RIDES Orga Team until the end of the race number distribution. There is no entitlement to a subsequent change/correction.

Route

The exact route will be published after approval by the Aachen regulatory authorities. The race track is 60 kilometers long and has an off-road section of 66%.

Elite + AK 19-49w / AK 19-59m: 2 laps = 120km / 1,536m

AK 50-80w / AK 60-80m: 1 lap = 60km / 768m

The race route is signposted, 60 km long and closed for 30 minutes after the top riders. Course marshals and a final vehicle will secure the course during this time. Riders who are overtaken by the final vehicle can continue in compliance with the rules of the road and receive a final time and result at the finish. However, riders who are hopelessly behind will be removed from the race by the race jury.

Closing time & ceremonies

The closing time for all age groups is 20:00. The award ceremonies will start at the same time, beginning with the overall winners and then all age groups.
